Before you begin
Make sure the music you want to add is stored in a local folder on your computer. If you're setting up Sonikr for the first time, Sonikr will guide you through creating your library.
Sonikr Media Hub builds your library from local folders. Just choose a music folder to get started.
Start your library
Open Sonikr Media Hub. If you don't have a library yet, Sonikr will take you directly to the initial setup. Click the "Choose folder" button, then select a local folder to serve as the source for your library.
Choose your music folder
If you have already created an initial library and simply want to add a new folder, click the "Folders" tab on the left, then click the "Add folder" option.
Add it as a library source
Give the source a clear display name, then add it to your library. Sonikr will check the folder and avoid adding the same source twice.
Let Sonikr scan your music
Once the source is added, Sonikr scans the folder and adds your music to the library. When the scan is complete, your collection will be ready to browse.
Browse your new library
Open Library, Albums, Artists, or Tracks to explore your music. You can return to Folders anytime to manage your library sources.
Your music folder is now part of your Sonikr library. Browse tracks, explore albums and artists, and enjoy your music.
When your music folder is updated
You don't need to add the same source again when your music changes. Simply use Sonikr's scan tools to update your existing library.
Use Quick Scan for small changes, such as adding new tracks.
Use Full Scan when you want Sonikr to completely refresh the source.
Troubleshooting
The folder or path is unavailable
Sonikr keeps the source saved if the folder or drive is temporarily unavailable. Check that the location is accessible, then scan the source again.
Some music files are missing
Check the missing files in Sonikr. You can export a CSV list for review or remove outdated records when needed.
Will removing a source or library record delete my music files?
No. Removing a source or library record in Sonikr will not delete your original music files.
